Marina Allotments is made up of about 170 individual and community plots, with around 250 active members and associates. The allotment is primarily used to grow fruit and vegetables, but there is also a strong interest from members in improving biodiversity and permaculture principles.
Members also contribute to the overall management and running of the allotment and we try to foster a strong sense of community. The committee is made up of members who volunteer their time to manage the administrative and strategic requirements of the allotment. Members are encouraged to help maintain the communal areas like paths, fences and hedges, normally as part of our regular stewardship days. We also run a small shop during the growing season, hire tools to members and arrange educational and social events to further the aims of the organisation.
