If you would like to have a plot at Marina Allotments, please fill out the form below. We currently have a waiting list which is about 2 – 3 years long. Please only join the waiting list if you’re sure that you understand what being a member of Marina Allotment entails and that you have the capacity to cultivate a plot year round.
We require ALL members of Marina Allotments to support with the wider running and maintenance of the allotment, in addition to fully cultivating their own plots. This means we expect members and associates to turn up to at least a couple of volunteer work days every year and to give time to supporting social events, running the shop and other activities where possible. It is not enough to simply look after your own plot – we are a community allotment and all members are expected to support that community.
It is also a requirement of our tenancy agreement with members that plots are at least 75% cultivated – that means mainly growing fruit and vegetables. We recommend that you fully read the tenancy agreement and rules on this website before you request to join the waiting list.
Allotments are hugely rewarding but a big time commitment – a good rule of thumb is to expect plots to require an average of 1 hour work per rod, per week. Standard plots are 5 rods, so you will need to commit to probably 7 or 8 hours per week in the spring and summer in order to maintain your plot.
